Fanatics! Tonight, I will attempt to melt your radio with a show I have wanted to do for a long time. At 6 pm on 89.9 FM KCRW, we will go scortcho for two solid hours of sonic perfection.

Let’s take a moment to get deep into the details of what will be. The show will be nothing but music by The Stooges and nothing but their self-titled first album. What, we are going to listen to it twice or something? Exactly.

First, we will play the album as it was released in 1969 and then we will play the album again in sequence but using alternate versions of the songs. This show will prove that too much of a good thing is a real good time.

The Stooges, who were at this time, Iggy Pop on vocals, Ron Asheton on guitar, Scott Asheton on drums and Dave Alexander on bass, had been in Michigan, raising hell on the outskirts of the American dream since 1967.

Danny Fields, visionary A&R man for Elektra Records went to Michigan to check out another group…

Fanatics! Reporting to you from Los Angeles. Still walking off the jet lag and everything’s late but hopefully you will have a chance to see these notes before the show.

We open tonight’s show with an AIC track in respect of the band’s old bass player, Mike Starr, who died last week.

Tonight’s show came together very quickly. One track took me to another and so on. Now and then, it goes very quickly. Something in one song makes me think of another and off I go.

I am glad we got another track from Raks Raks Raks on the show. It’s been awhile since we’ve tapped that one. Cool record but I was hoping it was going to be more far out.

Weasel Walter, a true maniac and friend of the show, sent in the White Suns album weeks ago and we finally get to it tonight.

I picked up some goodies in Australia and we will get to them in the weeks upcoming.

Next week’s show is all done and it’s one…

Fanatics! It’s me, your FM favorite. I am in Australia at the moment and to pay tribute to the great musicality of this country, we made the first hour all Aussie. Some of the bands are quite familiar but perhaps not all of them. The M Squared Box stuff is pretty new to my ears. That’s a good purchase, if you like what you hear on the show, you will probably dig the rest of it.

Hour two is that thang we often do, the all-over-the-place mix. I have played all the tracks through and I think Engineer X and I put together a good one for you. Pepi Ginsberg always knocks me out with her phrasing and vocal control. I am glad she sent us her new record.

Since I am traveling, he and I put all this together at the Mobile Mini Mosk a few weeks ago. We will be back together live next week, so get ready for that.

Dig these extremely cool jams and STAY FANATIC!!! —Henry
