BROADCAST #37
AIR DATE: 09-09-08
Fanatics! One thing lead to another and a few hours after I had started, (yes,
sometimes it takes me that long) I had finished tonight’s show. I made
a CDR of it and listened back and It’s working for me. I hope you all
like the show. You will notice a small theme running through the beginning
of the show, I hope your humor goes that way. The rest of the show is all
over the place as usual but I think this is one of the more inspired lists
I’ve put together in a few weeks. How about that Marnie Stern track!
Great album and she has another one coming out next month, we’ll get
on that one. I have been told that Deerhoof will be releasing another record
soon. Things just keep getting better and better, all you need to do to cheer
up is not think about Sarah Palin for a little while. Below is some information
on track #02. I hope you enjoyed all this good music and please tune in next
week when we will be live again. I can’t wait to see the look on Engineer
X’s face when I give him his copy of Fanatic! Vol. III. He better pretend
to like it! STAY FANATIC!!! --Henry
Info on the Paul Murphy / Larry Willis track: great Jazz drummer Paul Murphy
sent me one of his records months ago. It’s called Excursions and it’s
duets with him and piano player Larry Willis. It is really great. I went and
got some of their other records, The Powers Of Two and The Powers Of Two Vol.
2 and they’re great as well. Paul just sent me their new album, Exposé.
We heard this track many weeks ago, when the record was in its unmastered
rawness. I wanted to play Titanium again so you all can hear the finished
version and also because I want to play a lot of tracks from this one as I
think it’s really great. These two are a real powerhouse of innovation,
energy and depth, this is great work.
Exposé is available through Murphy Records. Info: paulfmurphy.com.
Cadence Records in Redwood New York has all recent releases.
