BROADCAST #42
AIR DATE: 10-18-08
Hello Fanatics! I am writing this up in beautiful Bend OR. It’s a night
off, a Friday night off, there’s something very wrong with that but
that’s how it is. Nothing wrong with Bend though, very nice place. Tonight
we offer you the Night Of Stone. Three bands, three tracks and that’s
it. We start with one of the greatest albums ever recorded, Sleep’s
Dopesmoker, one track and well over an hour in length. Nice! Sleep
were Matt Pike, Al Cisneros and Chris Haikus. They recorded a few albums of
superior, high density music, especially worth checking out are Holy Mountain
and Dopesmoker. The band broke up. Matt Pike formed High On Fire, Al Cisneros
and Chris Haikus formed Om. The recorded output of both bands is great and
worth checking out in my opinion. So tonight, you get men of Sleep together
and separately. There’s a good chance this music will not appeal to
all of you but I am hoping to be wrong about that. I hope you all are digging
the Saturday nights and perhaps this has brought some new listeners to the
show. If you are just now tuning in due to the change in night, we welcome
you. You are in good company. We are music Fanatics and we are legion.
Thanks for listening and STAY FANATIC!!! --Henry
